The Louisiana Section of the ACS has six travel awards available for either the Fall 2014 National Meeting in San Francisco (Aug 10-14) or SWRM 2014 (www.swrm2014.org) in Fort Worth (Nov 19-22) or SERMACS 2014 (sermacs2014.org) in Nashville (Oct 16-19). These awards are for undergraduates and graduate students who are going to be presenting at the meeting.
Travel Award Rules
Deadlines for Travel Awards:
July 15th for the fall meeting
October 1st for the SERMACS or SWRM meeting.
6 travel awards of $400 will be awarded.
Criteria for applying for the awards:
1) Student must be presenting at the meeting
2) Student must not have received a prior travel award from the Louisiana Section of the ACS
3) Student must be a member of the ACS
4) Priority will be given to students who have contributed/volunteered with the Local Section.
If there are multiple applications that meet the criteria, other criteria such as order request was received, prior award to other members of the group will be used in awarding the travel grant. Travel awards may be split amongst equally qualified students.
If for some reason, travel cannot be made, money must be refunded to the Louisiana Local Section of the ACS.
Exceptions will be examined on a case-by-case basis. If possible, pictures or other media should be sent to us so we can publicize our sponsored student at the meeting.
TO APPLY FOR THE AWARD
Send an email to the Awards Chair of the section, Sean Hickey ([email protected]), stating your name, your professor's name and your school affiliation. Also include your accepted abstract for your presentation at the 2014 meeting if you have it. Include your ACS member # and list any contributions/volunteering with the local section.
DEADLINE is July 15th for the National Meeting and October 1st for SWRM or SERMACS for consideration for these awards.
